Amidst health challenges, the Saegis Campus Carollers headed by the Rotaract Club and the Leo Club successfully organized the fifth Christmas Carol programme on a Vitual Platform on the 30th December 2020.
The main objective of the event was to share the spirit of Christmas with all students, staff and families.
The Carollers attended practices on six days in the evening, maintaining all health precautions, and the final recording was done on the 20th December 2020.
“A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land, dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born” was the theme of the Carols programme.
Twelve selected carols were presented by the Choir and individuals backed by a five-piece band.
Mistletoe And Wine, Silent Night, O Holy Night, Come All Ye Faithful , Ray Of Hope ,Bethlehempure , Adara Mage Jesuni, Seethala Sulanga Hamai , Seetha Rayaka, Go Tell It On The Mountain, Feliz Navidad were presented with music. The Christmas message was delivered by the Anglican Bishop of Kurunegala, Rt.Rev.Bishop Keerthisiri Fernando.
The following choristers enthusiastically took part in the event. Vishmi Gamage (President of Rotaract Club) ,Ovindu Karunaratne (IIP Leo Club, Thisuri Nisalya (President Leo Club), Natali Mudalige, Michelle Andrea, Thaveesha perera, Neluka Wijesuriya, Osanda Wijekoon, Terrence Michael, Clarence Timothy ,Gayasha Colombage, Christine Amanda ,John Stanislaus, Omali Radhika, Ashani Shashipraba, Shevon Perera, Shanon Perera, Senal Nalawansa, Nathaliya Fernando, Shiyan Fernando, Sahashrajee Kumaraperuma, Dilara Gunasekara and Ishantha Karunaratne
Randika Ashan-Keyboard, Richard-Lead Guitar,Joel-Rhythm Guitar, Gayan -Drums, Gayath-Bass Guitar, Janaka Fernando- Saxophone, Thaveesha Perera-Rhythm Guitar, Neluka Wijesuriya- lead Guitar,Osanda Wijekoon- Rhythm Guitar, John Stanislaus-Rhythm Guitar, Akash Gamage- Rhythm Guitar Kavinda-Rhythm Guitar and Thomas Benjamin-Rhythm Guitar produced live music for practices and recording.
The Choir was trained by Vismi Gamage and Thomas Benjamin of Saegis Campus. The Participants were provided with refreshments during practices and Lunch on the final day.
The recorded event was aired through Zoom, YouTube and Facebook on the 30th December at 6.30 p.m. By the 7th Jan there have been 271 viewers.
